Markedly regenerative anemia with frequent large polychromatophilic erythrocytes (reticulocytes) and increased anisocytosis in canine blood. A nucleated erythrocyte (metarubricyte) is present in the upper left, and a basophilic, spherical Howell-Jolly body is present in a polychromatophilic cell in the upper right (Wright-Giemsa, 100X oil immersion).
