| Amphotericin B is used principally in the treatment of systemic mycotic infections. Despite its ability to cause nephrotoxicity (see below), amphotericin B remains a commonly used antifungal agent because of its effectiveness. Nystatin is primarily indicated for the treatment of mucocutaneous (skin, oropharynx, vagina) or intestinal candidiasis; pimaricin is mainly used in therapeutic management of mycotic keratitis. |
