| Inflammatory liver disease is the second most common hepatopathy reported in cats but is rare in dogs. Classification for inflammatory liver disease in cats includes cholangiohepatitis (acute and chronic) and lymphocytic portal hepatitis. |
| Cholangiohepatitis is defined as inflammation of the biliary tract that extends into the hepatic parenchyma. Concurrent inflammatory bowel disease and pancreatitis have been reported in cats with cholangiohepatitis. |
