Gene Therapy May Help Lameness in Horses

11/2/2017

A new study published in Frontiers in Veterinary Science describes the use of gene therapy to treat lameness in two dressage horses. Injection of two different genes led to resolution of tendinitis in one case and desmitis in the other, with a return to pre-injury work loads for both horses. Ultrasound exams showed tissue regeneration within 2-3 months.
