Vaginal cytology, other cell types
In addition to epithelial cells, RBCs are seen mostly during proestrus. Abrupt appearance of neutrophils on vaginal cytology indicates the first day of diestrus. A large number of neutrophils along with presence of bacteria in a bitch may indicate vaginitis.
