A new report from the CDC describes a more than three-fold increase in diseases spread by mosquitos, fleas, and ticks in the US between 2004 and 20016. Nine newly described or introduced pathogens have been found in the country during that period.

More details on the increase in vector-borne diseases is reported in the New York Times. The full CDC report is also available online.

More information on emergent and recurrent zoonotic diseases can be found in the Merck Veterinary Manual.
