Hybrid Schistosomes Transmitted Between People and Livestock Found in West Africa

Researchers funded by the UK government have discovered highly infectious new hybrid schistosomes formed from a combination of livestock and human species of the flatworms in West Africa. Schistosomiasis is a chronic disease that affects 200 million people.
