Dr. Monique Eloit, the head of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), recently commented in an interview with Reuters that African swine fever is expected to continue spreading through Asia and other regions. It has now affected more than 50 countries globally, and in the past year has led to a 40% or greater reduction in the swine population in China. Spread to additional countries could occur through live animals, contaminated meat, or animal feed.
