Intracoelomic injection, koi, Cyprinus carpio

For intracoelomic injection, the fish should be placed in dorsal recumbency, with the head tilted down. This position allows internal organs in the coelom to fall away from the injection site. The needle should be inserted just off the ventral midline cranial to the anus. Sedation may be necessary to prevent iatrogenic injury to the fish.
