Ultrasonogram, descending colon and spleen, horse

Normal ultrasonographic image obtained from the flank of a horse, midabdomen. The descending colon, observed deep to the spleen, is hyperechoic because of gas within the lumen. The shape of fecal balls within the colon is characteristic of the descending colon.
