(A) Severe enlargement of the free thoracic vertebra caused by vertebral osteomyelitis and arthritis with formation of a large vertebral abscess, in a 43-day-old broiler. (B) Sagittal section showing compression of the spinal cord in a 10-day-old broiler breeder, caused by collapse and distortion of the free thoracic vertebra due to severe spondylitis and arthritis with abscess formation.
