Haemonchus adults

Adult females (arrowhead) of the genus Haemonchus can be identified by their distinct barber pole appearance because the white uterus spirals around the blood-filled gut, as seen in this photograph. Adult males (arrow) are shorter than females and lack a spiral pattern. The ruler at the top is in millimeters.
