This ewe had been previously diagnosed with a Grade II vaginal prolapse. Despite placement of a retention suture, the ewe continued to strain, resulting in rupture of the vaginal wall and subsequent evisceration. Treatment in this case was humane euthanasia. (Grade II prolapse = continuous acute prolapse of vaginal tissue)
