Palpation of endometrial folds, mare

Each uterine horn should be carefully palpated and slipped through the examiner's fingers to allow palpation of the endometrial folds. These endometrial folds are palpable in the nonpregnant mare. After a mare is>2–3 weeks pregnant, the character of the uterus changes so the folds are no longer palpable.
